I am Maria Gorman and I specialise in family and pet portraits, I live in my hometown of Uttoxeter. When I was in school, my favourite subject was art. I was always getting told off in other classes at school, as the teachers would often catch me drawing when I should have been doing other work. As a child at home I never had a pencil and
I am Maria Gorman and I specialise in family and pet portraits, I live in my hometown of Uttoxeter. When I was in school, my favourite subject was art. I was always getting told off in other classes at school, as the teachers would often catch me drawing when I should have been doing other work. As a child at home I never had a pencil and paper out of my hand. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study Art & Design. I have also obtained a BA (Hons) Open Degree studying in my spare time with The Open University.

I use various different mediums, my preference being pencil, but I also work with acrylics, and pastels. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.

I specialise in portraits of humans and animals. I love to draw in fine detail every line, crease and crevice that brings out the characteristics of the model. As a child growing up my father would buy various different birds and animals for my brother and I, we were surrounded by them. This is where my love of drawing them came from. I h

As a child growing up my father would buy various different birds and animals for my brother and I, we were surrounded by them. This is where my love of drawing them came from. I have also in the past enjoyed painting Disney characters for children’s murals. Being around nature is something I love and I enjoy recreating plants and wildlife in my work
